
Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory will host an international conference

By the decision of the Presidium of ANAS and the Science Council of N. Tusi Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory (SHA) an international online conference on "Physics and Dynamics of Solar System Bodies" will be held on October 4-5, 2021 at the observatory.
The event was dedicated to the 100th birthday of the first director of Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory, famous astronomer, Academician Hajibey Sultanov.
The Organizing Committee of the conference invites astronomers to participate in the conference. You can send titles and abstracts of your papers to the e-mail address of the Organizing Committee ([email protected]).
The deadline for submitting papers for the conference, which will be held in Azerbaijani, Russian and English, is September 1, 2021.
It is planned to publish the conference proceedings (abstracts and papers) in the "Azerbaijan Astronomical Journal". The formatting of the papers should be in accordance with the sample presented under the heading "Sample" at http://aaj.shao.az/.

It should be noted that Hajibey Sultanov, born in 1920, after graduating from Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University) served in the army and participated in the Great Patriotic War. Since 1953, G. Sultanov led the construction of the Astronomical Observatory in Azerbaijan and was its first director from its official establishment (1959) until 1981. From 1976 to 1981 he was vice-president of ANAS, and from 1981 to 2007 he headed the Department of Small Object Studies of the Academy of Sciences. G. Sultanov was a Full Member of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and the International Astronomical Union. He was awarded a number of state awards of the Soviet Union and the Republic of Azerbaijan. His scientific activity is mainly devoted to the problem of asteroid formation.
