Pursuant to Admission Plan confirmed by Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated August 25, 2020 by Order 493s, for preparation of doctoral student and dissertators of the universities, scientific institutions and organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences has announced admission to doctoranture and dissertature for training PhD and doctoral student in 2020 academic year.

Documents for PhD and doctoral studies will be accepted daily from September 14 to October 7, 2020 from 10:00 to 17:00 (except Saturday, Sunday and holidays).

Citizens of the Azerbaijan Republic with higher education are admitted to doctoranture according to the program of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) through a competition (having a master’s degree, or education equivalent to it, in a medical education a doctor or specialist).

Those who wish to enter the doctoral program under the Ph.D. program are taking entrance exams in a foreign language (except Russian, the choice is free or must correspond to the specialty) in the scope of the current program for a master's degree in higher education. The foreign language exam is conducted by the State Examination Center.

Candidates who took part in exams in a foreign language are admitted to exams in philosophy, while those who took part in exams in philosophy are admitted to exams in a specialty.

For admission to doctoral studies at the corresponding scientific institution of ANAS (addresses of scientific institutions can be obtained on the website www.science.az of ANAS) the following documents should be submitted:

- An application addressed to the head of a scientific institution where doctoral studies are carried out;

- A personal sheet for personnel records;

- Autobiography;

- 2 photos (size 3x4 cm);

- Extract from the work book for those who have work experience;

- Characteristic from the place of work;

- List of published scientific papers or abstract on the chosen specialty;

- A certified, in the appropriate order, copy of the diploma of graduation from a higher educational institution (certificate of recognition of educational documents for citizens of the Azerbaijan Republic who have received education abroad);

- An international certificate (if any) for knowledge of foreign languages;

- International certificate of foreign language skills (IELTS, TOEFL, TestDaf, DALF, if any);

- Copy of identity document.

Holders of a valid international language certificate in a foreign language (IELTS, TOEFL, TestDaf, DALF) are exempt from the foreign language entrance exam. The equivalence of the results of the international language certificate exam will be defined by the Ministry of Education in coordination with ANAS and the Ministry of Education.

Citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who have a Ph.D. degree (Ph.D.), are also admitted for doctoral studies under the doctoral program and are distinguished by achievements in the scientific or scientific-pedagogical field and are able to conduct basic research at a high level.

For admission to doctoral studies at the corresponding Institute of ANAS the following documents should be submitted:

- Application (name of the head of the institution or organization where doctoral studies are carried out);

- A personal sheet for personnel records;

- Autobiography;

- 2 photos (size 3x4 cm);

- Extract from the work book;

- Characteristic from the place of work;

- List of published scientific papers;

- A certified, in the appropriate order, copy of the diploma of a doctor of philosophy (candidate of science);

- A certified, in the appropriate order, copy of the diploma of graduation from a higher educational institution (certificate of recognition of educational documents for citizens of the Azerbaijan Republic who have received education abroad);

- Copy of identity document.

Documents having a higher education (master's degree, or education equivalent to it) and scientific and pedagogical staff of higher educational institutions, scientific and other organizations that are distinguished by success in the corresponding research field, can submit to the dissertation for a Ph.D.

Persons who complete their education through a dissertation cannot repeatedly be dissertants in the same specialty.

Persons who have completed doctoral studies cannot be educated by thesis in the same specialty.

Those who wish to enter the dissertation program of the Doctor of Philosophy pass entrance exams in a foreign language (except for Russian, the choice is free or must correspond to the specialty) in the amount of the current program for a master's degree in higher education. The foreign language exam is conducted by the State Examination Center.

For admission to the dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, the following documents should be submitted to the corresponding Institute of ANAS:

-Application (addressed to the head of the institution or organization where training in the dissertation is carried out);

- A personal sheet for personnel records;

- Autobiography;

- 2 photos (size 3x4 cm);

- Extract from the work book;

- Characteristic from the place of work;

- A list of published scientific papers or an abstract on the chosen specialty (according to the program for training doctors of philosophy)

- A certified, in the appropriate order, copy of the diploma of higher education
