An event dedicated to Victory Day was held at the Institute of Control Systems
05.11.2022 /On November 5, 2022, the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) held an event dedicated to the Victory Day. The event was attended by the administration of the institute, heads of departments and laboratories, scientists and specialists.
The event began with a minute's silence to honor the memory of the martyrs who bravely fought and gave their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. A video dedicated to the historical moments of the 44-day Patriotic War, prepared by the ICS staff, was shown at the event.
Opening the meeting, General Director of the ICS, academician Ali Abbasov congratulated the staff of the institute on the Victory Day. A. Abbasov spoke about the glorious history of the Patriotic War for the liberation of occupied lands under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan in response to another provocative military aggression of Armenia, which began on September 27, 2020. Speaking of the wartime difficulties, the academician noted that the unprecedented victory in both the military and political arena had been achieved precisely because of the farsighted policy of the head of state Ilham Aliyev and the courage of the Azerbaijani Army.
А.Abbasov also spoke about the state policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev in the political, economic, social and cultural spheres for many years to convey Azerbaijan's voice of truth to the world and protect the country's territorial integrity. Looking into the historical past, the scholar also spoke about the unprecedented achievements of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in ensuring that Azerbaijan occupies a worthy place among the advanced countries of the world.
Speaking about the conflict in different aspects, A.Abbasov noted that the occupied lands had been liberated at the cost of blood and lives of heroic martyrs, soldiers and officers, veterans. A. Abbasov recalled the statement signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the President of the Russian Federation on November 10, 2020, which is effectively considered to be an act of surrender of Armenia, and spoke about the consequences of the war. The academician noted that the return of the occupied Aghdam, Kalbajar and Lachin districts without a fight as a result of the political will of President Ilham Aliyev hac been regarded as a complete victory of Azerbaijan, which had won on the battlefield.
Noting that the enemy, which had proved powerless before the superiority of Azerbaijan, repeatedly committed war crimes, resorted to provocations and targeted innocent civilians, tried to distort facts and grossly violated international law, the scientist said that 2,908 military personnel and 100 civilians were killed in total, 416 civilians were wounded, 7 went missing and 12 military personnel were taken prisoner of war.
A.Abbasov noted that the achievements in the military field are based on modern technology that meets the requirements of the time. The scientist expressed confidence that the topical research in this field conducted in many scientific and technical institutions of the country, including the ICS, the obtained fundamental scientific results would play an important role in strengthening the military potential, and highlighted the new objectives to the participants of the meeting.
Then Lamiya Najafova, Chair of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of ICS, spoke about Azerbaijan's progressive youth policy and the support regularly provided by the country's leadership for the development of youth human resources. She said that the fact that thousands of young people had enlisted in response to the call of Supreme Commander-in-Chief is an embodiment of the young generation's respect for national and spiritual values and love for the Motherland. L. Najafova said that young people had bravely fought both on the battlefield and in the rear, and honored the memory of martyrs who had given their lives for their country.
Corresponding Member of ANAS Gorkhmaz Imanov noted that as a result of the victory of the valiant Azerbaijani Army in the Second Karabakh War the thirty-year pain of our people had been ended, our lands had been liberated from the enemy occupation at the cost of the blood of the martyrs. Talking about the political history of Karabakh, Gorkhmaz Imanov said the conflict had its roots in the last century, and talked about the far-sighted policy of great leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev and the successes achieved. At the end of his speech, the scientist lamented the countless destructions committed by Armenian aggressors and shared his memories of Karabakh.
Then Aminaga Sadigov, Executive Director of ICS, Corresponding Member of ANAS congratulated the participants of the event on the Victory Day. The scientist noted that as a result of the victory of the Azerbaijani Army in the Patriotic War under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief our lands had been liberated from the enemy occupation and the thirty-year pain had been ended, the Azerbaijani realities had been proved in the international arena. Emphasizing the significance of this victory for comprehensive development of the country A.Sadigov said that currently Azerbaijan is an example in the world as one of the developed states. The scientist said that educated youth, raised in the national spirit, play an important role in the development of the country, and talked about important missions to restore the liberated lands.
A.Sadigov recalled that in the fight for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan people had united as a fist around President Ilham Aliyev and demonstrated unity and solidarity, and stressed that the same determination is being demonstrated in the construction works currently underway in Karabakh.
Speaking at the event, Associate Professors Mazahir Isayev, Elkhan Sabziev, Alakbar Akhundov and Konul Omarova congratulated the participants on the Victory Day and talked about the history of Karabakh and the consequences of the war.
In conclusion, once again touching on the significance of the victory won by the triumphant Azerbaijani army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, A. Abbasov on behalf of the staff of the Institute thanked the employees of the Institute who had fought in the war. The academician talked about further goals for fundamental scientific research in the post-war period, creation of technologies meeting modern requirements and development of Azerbaijani science as a whole.
A.Abbasov stressed that the cherished memory of the martyrs who had given their lives for the Motherland would always live in the heart of every Azerbaijani and paid them a tribute of profound respect.
