Chapter prepared by head of lab of Institute of Control Systems ANAS Robert Asadulla oglu Karayev was published in the book "Knowledge Engineering. Principles, Methods and Applications”, which released "Nova Science Publishers Inc (US: N.Y.) March 2015.
Invitation for publication has been obtained from the editor of the book prof. Alfonso Perez Gama (University of Essex, United Kingdom).

In Chapter entitled «Cognitive Approach and its Application to the Modeling of Strategic Management of Enterprises» aforementioned book the methodology and applied possibilities of the cognitive approach, actively developed in recent years in the world management science (http://rabitadunyasi.info.az/News/?newsID=1389&lang=az) are considered.

The ideas and methods of the cognitive approach reflect a new paradigm of management science and opens unique opportunities for efficient management of complex objects of the modern world (enterprises, banks, state budget, emergencies, biological resources, ecosystems, etc.). The main features of such objects are: multicriteriality, multifactor, dynamism, uncertainty, and interdisciplinarity, which preclude the possibility of their modeling by traditional economic and mathematical tools.
The chapter presents the results of applying of the cognitive approach to the tasks of strategic management of small and medium-sized enterprises, which today are the driver of economic growth in developed and developing countries, including Azerbaijan.
