ICS/FAO cooperation

A meeting with Ms Melek Cakmak, Head of the FAO Partnership and Liaison Office in Azerbaijan, took place at the Institute of Control Systems on 25 April 2017. During the meeting, the guest got acquainted with the latest results of the research work carried out at the Institute.

M. Cakmak was also informed about the ICS project "Intelligent seismic-acoustic warning system for the beginning of seismic processes in the region". The theoretical foundation of this project is robust noise technologies created at the ICS.

During the meeting, there was an exchange of views on possible ways of cooperation between the ICS of ANAS and FAO.

One of the priority activities of FAO is the reduction of risks of human-caused and natural disasters, support to countries to improve the sustainability of the food and agricultural products system, and to achieve this goal, great importance is attached to the protection and rational use of water resources in the regions. In this regard, the project "Development of an intelligent seismic-acoustic early warning system for the initiation of seismic processes with the purpose of mitigating the risks of natural disasters in the region" was proposed as an example of cooperation.

The proposed project will use the scientific results of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS, the Republican Seismic Survey Center, as well as from the LIDAR units proposed by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Aviation.
