Head of the Laboratory of Mathematical Modeling of Nanotechnology Application in the Oil Industry of the Institute of Control Systems of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Professor Eldar Shahbazov, DSc (Engineering), was awarded one of the highest awards of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences for his scientific achievements, the International Academician Azad Mirzajanzade Silver Medal, named after an outstanding Azerbaijani scientist, laureate of State Prizes, Honored Worker of Science and Technology, Honored Oil Worker. The medal was presented by the Vice-President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Academician Ibrahim Guliyev.

Note that this medal is the first international award in the world named after an Azerbaijani scientist.
