Decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan on amendments to the “Spelling Norms of the Azerbaijani language” approved by the Decision No. 174 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated April 16, 2019

To make the following changes in the “Spelling Norms of the Azerbaijani language” approved by the Decision No. 174 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated April 16, 2019 (Collection of Legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 2019, № 4, Article 767):

1.In item 4.6 after the words “received words” the words “(except for the words of appeal, attestation and accreditation)” should be added and the word “, appeal” should be removed from that item.

2.In paragraph 4.10, "stress." the word "stress, etc." be replaced by the words.

3.The first paragraph of item 8.6 to state in the following edition:

Higher state positions - President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. State bodies (institutions), union, society, academy, university, college, theater, philharmonic, political party, historical days, etc. The first letter of all words of such complex names (except for such auxiliary words as name, on, and, next to, against, etc.) is written in capital letters: Cabinet of Ministers of the Azerbaijan Republic, Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi, Baku International Center for Multiculturalism, New Azerbaijan Party, State Service for Mobilization and Conscription of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Baku City Executive Power, Agstafa District Education Department, etc.

4.According to the "Note" of item 8.6:

4.1.In Part 1, the word “Contains” shall be replaced with the words “State symbols, as well as its composition” and the words “National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan” to be added after the word “is written” in that part;

4.2.Part 3 to be given in the following edition:

“3.The words denoting the field (health) and position (minister) in compound names of the type of the Minister of Health of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Minister of Agriculture of the Azerbaijan Republic shall be written in lower case. ”

5.In paragraph 8.8 after the words "and" in quotation marks the words "first word" shall be added and in this paragraph the words "Order of Independence", "Order of the Flag of Azerbaijan" shall be replaced by the words "Order of Service to the Fatherland", "Medal for Distinction in Civil Service"

6.On the 9th part:

6.1.to give the name in the following edition:

“9.Abridgements and (acronyms) abbreviations”;

6.2.In item 9.1 the words “Abridgements and abbreviations” to be replaced with the words “Abridgements (acronyms) and abbreviations”;

6.3.In sub-clause 9.1.1 after the word “abridgements” the word “(acronyms)” to be added;

6.4.In sub-item 9.1.3 the words “big and” to be replaced with the words “big or” and the words “Azerbaijan Publishing House” shall be replaced with the words “Azerbaijan State Publishing House”;

6.5. In paragraph 9.2 after the word "abbreviations" the word "(acronyms)" should be added and as a result in the paragraph the words "UNESCO, ISESCO" should be replaced by the words "in UNESCO's, ISESCO".
