An event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Lotfi Zadeh was held at the Institute of Control Systems.

An online seminar dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the world famous scientist Lotfi Zadeh was held on Youth Day 2 February 2021. The event was organized by the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists (CYSS) of the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) of ANAS. The seminar was attended by the administration of the institute, members of the CYSS, representatives of education and public relations departments and scientists working in the field of fuzzy logic theory. Representatives of the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AUAC), the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA), the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (ASUE) and a group of students of the Baku State University (BSU) and Sumgayit State University (SSU) were also invited to the event.

Opening the event, the chairman of the CYUS Institute, Rashad Mastaliyev, PhD (Math), stated that the foundation of the youth policy in the country was laid in accordance with the relevant decree signed by the national leader Heydar Aliyev in 1997, and today this policy is successfully continued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. He noted the projects of ANAS, including those involving the active participation of modern Azerbaijani youth in the implementation of state programs in the field of science and education, and noted the important role of these projects in the scientific development of youth.

Then the General Director of the institute, Academician Ali Abbasov congratulated the participants of the seminar on Youth Day and noted that it is very gratifying that this holiday was announced by our national leader Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan on 2 February 1997, a year before the UN announced the International Youth Day. A. Abbasov noted that the attention and care shown by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev to the youth had always been one of the priorities of state policy. He said that the political course of the national leader, who highly appreciated the knowledge and skills of young people, is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.

Noting the priority directions of the "Development Program of ANAS for 2020-2025", the academician emphasized the importance of practical measures taken in ANAS in the direction of training highly qualified young personnel in the country. He informed the participants of the seminar about the scientific conferences that will be held in ANAS in accordance with the President's order on celebrating the 100th anniversary of Lotfi Zadeh dated 25 January of this year. A. Abbasov noted that he is very glad that the event held at the Institute on Youth Day is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Lotfi Zadeh.

Abbasov said that by the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 4 February 2011, Lotfi Zadeh had been awarded the Order of Friendship "For his contribution to the development of science and technology and services in building intercultural dialogue", and since that year, conferences devoted to Lotfi Zadeh's science had been held.

At the end, the academician noted the latest results of Lotfi Zadeh's theory of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic and the direction of further development.

Then the deputy chairperson of the CYCS, junior researcher Lamia Najafova spoke about the participation of youth in various social projects during the pandemic and about the project "Today's educated youth is the hero of tomorrow."

The main speaker of the seminar Prof. Ramin Rzayev, DSc (Eng), senior researcher at ICS, noted in his speech that the founder of the theory of fuzzy logic, an honorary member of ANAS, Professor Lotfi Zadeh was one of the outstanding personalities who, with their fundamental theories, led to serious changes in the history of science. Rzayev stressed that the theories put forward by Zadeh gave impetus to the development of research in various fields, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, and intelligent technologies based on these theories played an important role in shaping the foundations of modern control and information and communication systems. R. Rzayev made a presentation on Soft Computing technology and told the participants in detail about the model of 5-layer neural networks.

Then Academician Telman Aliyev, Advisor of ANAS, shared his memories of Lotfi Zad, stressed that science is the most interesting area of human activity, and wished the youth success in this demanding work.

Then Professor Ilgar Mammadov, Doctor of Economics, Ulker Sattarova, DSc(Eng), Vice-Rector for Strategic Development of AUAC, Assoc. Prof. of ASUE, Hilala Jafarova, PhD (Math), Assoc. Prof. of ADA University, Samir Rustamov  PhD(Eng), and ICS Master's student Punar Guliyeva spoke on the legacy of Lotfi Zadeh, artificial intelligence and Data science.

The Sevinj Guliyeva, PhD(Math), Head of the Education Department of ICS, noted that the establishment of the Master's program at ANAS in 2015 by the relevant decree of President Ilham Aliyev had given an impetus to an increase in the role of youth in the development of science, and spoke about the conditions created for the highest level of Master's students' education and development.

The event was also attended by doctoral student of ICS ANAS Vugar Gashimov and Master's student of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography Narmin Abbaszade, who spoke about the advantages of studying in the Master's program of ANAS.

In conclusion, Academician A. Abbasov noted that the excellent conditions created in the country for the participation of young people in state building and their spiritual development are a vivid example of great attention and care, congratulated the young people and wished them success in their scientific activity.
