Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Agasi Melikov elected editor of special issue of Annals of Operations Research journal
08.07.2021 / Conferences, assembliesAs we reported earlier, Professor A. Krishnamoorthy and his students D. Shajin and V. Narayanan wrote in their article “Inventory with Positive Service Time: A Survey" (P. 201-238) published in the 2nd volume of the collection of articles “Queueing Theory 2. Advanced Trends" (https://iste.co.uk/book.php?id=1743) that the foundations of the theory of inventory systems that are positive for service requests were laid 30 years ago by American scientists K. Sigman (Columbia University) and D. Simchi-Levi (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and our compatriot, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Prof. Agasi Melikov. The article by the American scientists was published in Annals of Operations Research (1992, Vol. 40, pp. 371-380), and an article by A. Melikov was published in the Cybernetics journal (1992, Vol. 28, No 3, pp. 484-487).
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the theory, Professor A. Krishnamoorthy (Cochin University of Science & Technology, Cochin, INDIA), Professor S. Chakravarthy (Kettering University, Flint, USA) and Agasi Melikov made a suggestion to Professor E. Boros, Editor-in-Chief of Annals of Operations Research (IF 2.583), the journal that published one of the first articles in this field, to publish a special issue of the journal.
Taking into account the scientific and practical significance of the developed theory, a positive decision was made regarding the suggestion. A special issue of the journal scheduled for next year will be edited by A. Krishnamoorthy, S. Chakravarthy, A. Melikov and W. Narayana (India).
