Regular meeting of the Science Council of the Institute of Control systems was held

On September 14, 2021, a meeting of the Science Council of the Institute of Control systems (ICS) of ANAS was held in the online format. The meeting was attended by the Institute's administration, all members of the Council, all heads of departments and laboratories, and invited guests.

The meeting was opened by General Director of the Institute Academician Ali Abbasov, who informed the participants about the issues on the agenda. First, A. Abbasov voiced relevant instructions to cover the scientific activity of the late Ogtay Nusratov, Doctor of Engineering, Professor, who worked as Deputy Director for Science of the Institute for many years, and honored the memory of the scientist with a minute of silence.

А. Abbasov brought to the attention of the participants of the event the first item of the agenda: the main provisions of the relevant decrees of the Presidium of ANAS dated July 9 and July 27, 2021 "On development of the national strategy for sustainable development of science in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2022-2030", and the related issues.

Then A. Abbasov brought to the attention of the participants another issue on the agenda: provisions on the decree of the Presidium of ANAS dated July 9, 2021 "On the tasks arising from the speech of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev at the Second Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Science and Technology", and stated that the adopted decisions reflect the important tasks facing the scientific institutions of ANAS, including ICS, for the development of our country and further improvement of the wellbeing of our people.

Emphasizing the important role of science in the modern era, the scientist noted that ANAS, including ICS, is closely involved in solving such issues as the creation of space for innovative development, inclusive society, effective use of artificial intelligence in solving many problems in accordance with the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, integration of science and education, and important cooperation has been established in this area.

А. Abbasov also spoke about future priorities in this sphere, noting the importance of modern scientific approach to the army building, restoration and development of our liberated lands, protection of natural resources, seismic surveys.

Then detailed discussions on the above issues were held, proposals for submission to the Division of Physics, Mathematics and Technical Sciences of ANAS were put to vote and relevant decisions were made.

Then, Aminaga Sadigov, Executive Director of the Institute, Corresponding Member of ANAS, reported on the proposals for the work plan of the "Science Council of ANAS on Science, Education and Technology" for 2021-2022. He stressed the importance of the council in terms of identifying research areas that meet the requirements of the modern era and mobilizing the material-technical and human potential of ANAS to conduct research in these directions.

A.Sadigov brought to the attention of the participants of the meeting the topical issues raised by the ICS scientists regarding the work plan of the Science Council. Corresponding members of ANAS Aghasi Melikov and Kamil Aydazade, Ilgar Mammadov, Doctor of Mathematics, Associate Professor Adalat Pashayev and others took part in extensive discussions on these topics. As a result, it was decided to select and present 4 topics.

Then, the Head of the Education Department of ICS, Sevinj Guliyeva, PhD in Mathematics, spoke on the next item on the agenda: admission to the PhD dissertation program and DSc doctoral program, and gave the members of the council detailed information about the spots allocated for ICS, examinations held, dissertation topics and scientific supervisors. After the discussion, it was decided to submit a petition to the Presidium of ANAS for admission of applicants.

Then Academician Ali Abbasov emphasized the importance of creating a healthy competitive environment in the Institute and further stimulation of productive scientists. He proposed establishing an expert group chaired by Corresponding Member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov to determine the criteria for further stimulation of scientific laboratories and staff, and the relevant decision was made.

Zahra Azizova, Academic Secretary of ICS, spoke on another issue of the agenda. She informed the participants of the event about the monograph by Head of Public Relations Department, Aygun Aliyeva, PhD in Economics, "Main directions of organization of production services in the industrial sector of the Republic of Azerbaijan" prepared for publication. Opinions were exchanged on this topic and relevant decision was made.

The meeting also considered the issue of transferring Gulush Nabadova, a full-time student of the Institute's PhD doctoral program, to extramural studies, and a corresponding decision was made.

In conclusion, General Director of the Institute Academician Ali Abbasov summed up the results of the meeting and voiced specific instructions on the implementation of the main upcoming tasks.
