At the opening ceremony of the conference, General Director of the Institute of Control Systems of ANAS Academician Ali Abbasov made a presentation on "The Role of Artificial Intelligence in the Development of Military Technologies". A. Abbasov noted that the military industry has always occupied the main place among the spheres of application of the results obtained in the development of science and technology. The emergence and application of artificial intelligence, one of the main, and possibly the first, directions of the 4th industrial revolution is also focused on military technologies, and in this area developed countries have achieved certain success in creating new types of weapons and managing military operations.
А. Abbasov said that the main application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the military sphere is unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and combat robots. UAVs are mainly of strike and reconnaissance purpose and perform autonomous or remotely controlled functions such as terrain scanning, recognition of objects on the ground, selection and destruction of targets, including living beings, self-defense, operational preparation of a map of the changing situation in combat areas, navigation and communication with the operations center, etc.
Speaking about UAVs, A. Abbasov emphasized the important role of UAVs in the defeat of Armenian armed forces in the 44-day war waged by the Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev over the occupied territories of our country.
At the conference, ANAS Advisor Academician Telman Aliev also made a presentation on "Intelligent adaptive vibration technology for diagnostics of weapons and military equipment", saying that the proposed problem is devoted to the problem of diagnostics of combat weapons and military equipment in real combat conditions. He stated that currently the most effective diagnostic technologies are implemented with the help of basic vibration technologies, but to ensure the adequacy of diagnostics in combat conditions it is necessary to solve the two problems.
