The report of the Institute of Control Systems for 2021 has been presented

The regular online meeting of the General Assembly of the Division of Physical, Mathematical and Technical Sciences dedicated to annual reports was held on December 27, 2021. At the meeting, the Director General of the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) of ANAS, Academician Ali Abbasov presented the final report on the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the ICS for 2021.
According to A. Abbasov, in 2021, 7 important scientific results were obtained at the ICS in 14 areas of research. These results mainly cover technologies for ensuring the adequacy of the results of the correlation analysis of signals, the development of methods and algorithms for autonomous control of UAVs, a comprehensive assessment of the state of ecosystems at military training grounds, the optimization of non-local boundary conditions for dynamic systems, the construction of new mathematical models of queueing inventory systems with perishable items, and so on.
The academician pointed out that during the current year, 416 scientific works by the Institute's employees had been published, including 198 articles, 142 of which published abroad, 89 in the Web of Science and Scopus databases, others in well-known journals, as well as 206 papers at 91 conferences abroad and in our country, 30 of them were published in the Web of Science database, 5 Eurasian patents were received, 5 monographs, textbooks and study guides were published.
He stressed that in the last three years, works of the Institute's employees were referenced 2,332 times in the Web of Science and Google Scholar databases.
The academician noted that 9 research projects were successfully implemented and 9 projects were submitted for grant competitions in 2021.
A. Abbasov said that the ICS pays special attention to the development of young personnel potential, pointing out that a total of 48 people study in the doctoral and dissertation program, 7 dissertations had been defended in the reporting year, including 2 for the degree of Doctor of Science, 5 for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy; 11 people study in the ICS Master's program, and 2 dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Science, 10 theses for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy had been defended at the dissertation councils operating at the Institute.
The academician emphasized that numerous scientific and scientific-organizational events had been carried out in the reporting year. The International Conference on Problems of Logistics, Management and Operation in the East-West transport Corridor (PLMO), organized by Institute of Control Systems, Silesian University of Technology (Poland), Azerbaijan Technical University and Georgian Technical University, was held on October 27-29 of this year.
Employees of the institute, based on the relevant decisions of the country's leadership and the Presidium of ANAS, were awarded various awards and prizes in 2021. In particular, decisions were made to hold the 80th anniversary of Corresponding Member of ANAS Gorkhmaz Imanov and the 70th anniversary of Academician Asaf Hajiyev. 7 people were awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Division of PMTS ANAS: Academic Secretary Zahra Azizova, Prof. Kamil Mansimov, Prof. Knyaz Mamedov, DSc (Eng) Gambar Guluyev, Assoc.Prof. Rauf Gadimov, Assoc.Prof. Gulchin Abdullayeva, Khanim Hajinskaya.
By the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Azerbaijan State Economic University (UNEC), head of the ICS laboratory, Doctor of Economics, Prof. Yadulla Hasanli was awarded the honorary title of “Distinguished Scientist.” Professor Elmkhan Makhmudov was included in the final list of “Most Influential Scientists in the World” drawn up by scientists at Stanford University and published by the Dutch Elsevier publishing house specializing in scientific, technical and medical content.
The academician said that the institute is also taking practical measures to integrate science and education. For example, a number of scientists of the Institute work at various departments of many universities of the republic (Baku State University, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Azerbaijan State University of Economics, Azerbaijan National Aviation Academy, Azerbaijan Technical University, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Azerbaijan Pedagogical University, etc.) and are invited to lecture at world-renowned higher education institutions.
The specialized department of the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction operates at the institute. Every year more than 100 students undergo practical training at the Institute.
In preparation for the next project of the republican competition "Scientists of Tomorrow", carried out on the initiative of the Ministry of Education and with the organization of ANAS, the scientists of the Institute provide scientific advice to students of secondary schools No. 189-190 and 193. An excursion to the ANAS High Technologies Park was organized for students and a number of meetings were held.
According to A. Abbasov, in the reporting year, scientists of the ICS have achieved significant success in international cooperation. This year the institute continued close cooperation with leading scientists from local and foreign research institutes. Scientific relations have been established with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian Institute of Applied Software Systems, the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Electronics and other organizations. An agreement on cooperation was also signed between the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) and the Institute of Control Systems of ANAS in order to use the capabilities of the HPC (High Performance Computing) Center in the calculations carried out at the ICS.
Within the framework of scientific and technical cooperation with various government agencies, including between the Ministry of Defense Industry and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, a memorandum on joint activities in the field of scientific research and the creation of innovative products was signed between the National Aerospace Agency and the Institute of Control Systems.
Speaking about the work done at the institute in the year 2021, as well as the promotion and popularization of scientific knowledge, the academician noted that business relations had been established with the media, and regular appearances of the administration, leading scientists and specialists of the ICS in the media had been organized. According to A. Abbasov, the number of visits to the official website of the institute www.isi.az has significantly increased in 2021, reaching the highest figure in the last 5 years.
