The 8th World Conference on Soft Computing concluded its work
07.02.2022 /The closing ceremony of the 8th World Conference on Soft Computing devoted to the centenary of the birth and scientific legacy of Lotfi Zadeh and organized by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan Republic took place at the Institute of Control Systems of ANAS on February 5, 2022.
Opening the event, Academician Ali Abbasov, General Director of the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) of ANAS, greeted the participants. He emphasized that the three-day 8th World Conference on Soft Computing was organized as part of the plan of events for the 100th anniversary of the outstanding scientist Lotfi Zadeh, prepared by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences together with the Ministry of Education following the order of President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan of January 25, 2021.
А. Abbasov emphasized that Lotfi Zadeh was one of the greatest scientists-inventors of the mankind, who played an exceptional role in creation of revolutionary technologies. He pointed out that Lotfi Zadeh used his rich experience to create serious innovations in the field of fuzzy logic, which gives impetus to solution of problems in many fields of science, having positive impact on various spheres of life. The academician expressed confidence that due to holding these large-scale events, Lotfi Zadeh's scientific ideas will be worthily continued in various countries of the world, including Azerbaijan.
A. Abbasov stressed that nearly 100 papers by scientists from different countries engaged in fundamental research as well as in applied aspects of fuzzy logic and theory of fuzzy sets had been presented at the conference and said that the presented topics deserved special attention in the light of development of the theory of artificial intelligence. Giving high assessment to the work of the conference, the scientist noted that the presented papers addressed innovations in such areas as soft computing logic, fuzzy approaches, fuzzy control systems, neural networks, fuzzy recognition, and so on. At the same time, interesting ideas were expressed about their application in education, medicine, economics, control, forecasting, and other fields.
The academician noted that this coming together of the scientific community and the exchange of views and experiences on relevant topics lay the foundation for the effectiveness of future prospects. A. Abbasov expressed his special gratitude to Professor Shahnaz Shahbazova, Program Co-chair of the program, Full Member of the International Academy of Modern Sciences Lotfi Zadeh of Azerbaijan Republic, partners and all participants for their work in building relationships with the global scientific community and organizing the conference.
At the end of his speech A. Abbasov said that on the eve of the 4th industrial revolution, Azerbaijan had achieved an impressive economic and socio-political potential for effective practical cooperation with foreign countries in various areas. Saying that the leading research institutions of the country, including the Institute of Control Systems of ANAS, are always ready for active business cooperation, the academician noted that effective interaction and friendly relations would create a basis for fundamental research aimed at solving many important applied problems.
Then Professor Shahnaz Shahbazova, Secretary General of the conference, spoke about the life of Lotfi Zadeh and his rich scientific heritage, pointing out that the fuzzy logic theory put forward as a result of his vital research had paved the way for the development of various sciences at the present stage. She stressed the importance of the conference and noted that this coming together and exchange of views of renowned scientists from around the world creates a basis for further research. At the end of her speech Prof. Shahbazova expressed her deep gratitude to the administration of ICS and other organizers of the conference and wished the scientists success in further scientific activities.
Professors Aminaga Sadigov, Janusz Kasprzyk, Imre Rudas, Vadim Stefanyuk, Alexey Averkin, Nadezhda Yarushkina, Takahiro Yamnoi and other prominent scientists also spoke at the event. They highly appreciated the papers presented at the conference and expressed their gratitude to the organizers, first and foremost to the ICS, for organizing the event aimed at bringing together scientists and specialists in this field to discuss current problems and future prospects in various areas of soft computing.
