8th International Conference on Control and Optimization with Industrial Applications is underway
24.08.2022 /The 8th International Conference on Control and Optimization with Industrial Applications (COIA-2022) kicked off at Baku State University with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Institute of Applied Mathematics of Baku State University on August 24, 2022.
The event, which will be held from August 24 to 26, serves as a useful platform for researchers and practitioners in the field of control and optimization from around the world to discuss scientific results and exchange ideas. The conference, held in Baku in a hybrid format, is attended by renowned scientists from up to 30 countries.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rovshan Rustamov noted that as a result of President Ilham Aliyev's purposeful policy of training qualified personnel in science and education, the production of export-oriented, competitive, science-intensive products is one of the key issues for the country's sustainable economic and political development.
The deputy minister said that the International Conference on Management and Optimization with Industrial Application serves such purposes as training of scientific and technical personnel, establishment of international ties and cooperation, implementation of joint scientific research and exchange of experience. R. Rustamov stressed that Azerbaijan moved to the 1st place among the South Caucasus countries by the number of conference papers indexed in the Web of Science database in 2018 and 2020.
R. Rustamov pointed out that in accordance with the relevant Order of President Ilham Aliyev, the "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities of Socio-Economic Development" clearly stated the need to create a "creative and innovative society." He noted that digital transformation is one of the key factors on the way to a creative and innovative society. Referring to the importance of the COIA-2022 conference, he said that the papers presented in some sections of the conference are also directly related to digital realizations. R. Rustamov expressed confidence that the discussions to be held at this international event would contribute to the implementation of digital transformation in Azerbaijan and facilitate the development of industry and economy.
Then Rector of Baku State University Elchin Babayev, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology Robert Nigmatulin, General Director of the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) Academician Ali Abbasov delivered their speeches. The speakers talked about the application of scientific results in industry and economics, aspects of optimization and management, and stressed the importance of the international conference.
The event continued with sessions.
It should be noted that a total of 293 papers will be presented at the international conference. The topics of the conference include such areas as control theory, optimization, intelligent systems, fuzzy control, networks and telecommunications, numerical and computational methods, mathematical modeling and simulation, applications in industry and economics, identification, and application of optimization procedures in physical problems.
