International Eastern Conference on Human-Computer Interaction is held
09.09.2022 /The International Eastern Conference on Human-Computer Interaction was opened in the city of Nakhchivan on September 9, 2022.
At the plenary session of the conference, General Director of the Institute of Control Systems, Academician Ali Abbasov made a presentation of his paper "Development of a human-computer interface in the Azerbaijani language using NLP technologies". A.Abbasov spoke about the evolution of human-computer interfaces and told the participants in detail about voice interfaces. He noted that voice interfaces, unlike other interfaces, allow human interaction with a computer via speech and in native language.
Saying that study of voice technologies in Azerbaijan had begun in early 2000s, the academician spoke about the Dilmanc microcomputer project developed in 2011.
A.Abbasov said that building corpora for the creation of NLP systems for low-resourced languages was carried out as part of cooperation between the Institute of Control Systems and Robotronics. As a result of this cooperation about 7, 000 hours of speech corpus, a text corpus of 300 million sentences (about 3 billion word forms), a pronunciation corpus of about 1 million word forms and other corpora were developed.
The academician emphasized that one of the important aspects of application of NLP systems in Azerbaijani language in education is that it gives an impetus to the work in the field of virtual teacher software development.
Note that IECHCI2022 is jointly organized by Nakhchivan University, the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Middle East Technical University (Turkey).
The papers presented at the conference are expected to cover research on complex and innovative topics, theories, developments and applications in the field of human-computer interaction.
