Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited the Institute of Control Systems

The Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emin Amrullayev visited the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) on November 25, 2022. The meeting was attended by Ulker Sattarova, Chair of the Executive Board of the Education Quality Assurance Agency, Academician Ali Abbasov, General Director of ICS, and Corresponding Member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov, Executive Director of ICS.
First, General Director Ali Abbasov, speaking about the important role of the Institute in the development of Azerbaijani science, spoke in detail about the research being conducted at the Institute, the bibliometric indicators, the patents obtained, the human resources potential, the international cooperation ties, etc.
А. Abbasov spoke about the effective cooperation ties with local and international companies as a result of ongoing research of practical importance carried out at the Institute. The academician told about the work on commercialization of the obtained important scientific results, including the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system developed by the Institute, which operates on the basis of the Internet of Things, is widely introduced and successfully implemented in the oil industry. A. Abbasov informed the Minister of Science and Education about important applied research, such as the development of modern control systems for drones, which require modern and autonomous control, natural language processing, which plays an important role in solving complex and difficult to formalize problems, and robot operator, developed on the basis of the Azerbaijani language and is in the experimental testing stage in several call centers. The Minister examined the special design bureau operating under the Institute, where the experimental design process is carried out.
The minister then reviewed the conditions created for projects developed and implemented by the institute together with the private sector, including startups, industrial enterprises. He also met a group of employees, and got acquainted with the results achieved and the difficulties and problems the institute encounters.
In the end, the Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev evaluated the scientific and social activities of the institute and voiced his recommendations for research carried out to address current scientific problems, effective cooperation relations and practical measures for the integration of science and education.
Note that in accordance with the July 28, 2022 Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On some measures to improve the management of science and education in the Republic of Azerbaijan" has been placed under the authority of the Ministry of Science and Education.
