30.11.2022 /Executive Director of the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Aminaga Sadigov presented his paper Conflict management and the role of science in addressing the root causes" at the International Symposium "Science in the context of current challenges and threats: problems and development priorities", held in hybrid format in Kyiv, Ukraine, on November 29, 2022.
In his presentation, A. Sadigov proposed that conflicts should not be suppressed at all costs, but rather that a useful management mechanism should be applied to resolve them, bringing together the different ideas and points of view of the conflicting parties. He noted that science is based on free and critical thinking, which is an important hallmark of the democratic world. The essence of scientific thinking is the ability to view natural and social problems from different perspectives and to find explanations based on critical analysis.
А. Sadigov emphasized that governments and society as a whole must use the achievements of fundamental and applied sciences and modern technology to address the root causes and consequences of conflicts. Investments in research and technological development serving this purpose should be increased. In science, he said, more than in any other field, people set aside their political differences and cooperate for the best interests of their peoples. International cooperation among scientists is a valuable and constructive contribution to global security and the strengthening of peaceful relations among peoples, societies and cultures.
It should be noted that the symposium was chaired by Academician Anatoly Zahorodniy, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and Corresponding Member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov was a member of the symposium's program committee.
