At this annual contest, students from 9th to 11th grades of secondary schools of the Republic of Azerbaijan present their projects in teams, and demonstrate their creativity.
Many scientific institutions in the country, including the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) of the Ministry of Science and Education regularly support schoolchildren's involvement in scientific research and their growth as researchers and specialists. Well-known scientists of the Institute advise the students participating in this contest, provide guidance in choosing topics, developing projects and submitting them to the contest. The team consisting of students of 10th grade of secondary school No 189-190 Ziya Sadigzade and Aziz Alizade received scientific support from Head of Laboratory of ICS, Doctor of Engineering Sciences Fakhrad Pashayev and senior researcher, Doctor of Engineering Elkhan Sabziev.
The main aim of the project "Construction of on-screen image of UAV flight path based on GPS data transmitted via modem" submitted by Z. Sadigzade and A. Alizade to the contest in the nomination "Computer Science" is visualization of this path on the computer monitor to study the trajectory of GPS-equipped objects, including unmanned aircrafts. In the course of the project, the data obtained from the GPS device placed on board a hexocopter UAV is processed and transmitted via modem to the computer. During data processing and visualization of the results, solution methods and graphical programming methods are used. The received results may allow to determine the current location, the trajectory of the object equipped with GPS, on the basis of the transmitted data and to estimate the correspondence of the movement to the set route.
The three-day contest was attended by General Director of ICS Academician Ali Abbasov, Executive Director, Corresponding Member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov, Dr. Fakhrad Pashayev, Dr. Elkhan Sabziev, Head of Public Relations Department of the Institute Aygun Aliyeva, PhD in Economics, Head of Education Department Sevinj Guliyeva, PhD in Mathematics, Chair of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists Lamiya Najafova, researchers Nigar Akhmadli, Narmin Abbaszade, Punar Guliyeva, Elmar Mustafayev and other employees.
