An event devoted to the International Women's Day, March 8, was held at the Institute of Control Systems

An event devoted to the International Women's Day, March 8, was held at the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event was attended by the administration of the institute, heads of departments and laboratories, young scientists and specialists.

Opening the event, General Director of the ICS, Academician Ali Abbasov spoke about the high position of Azerbaijani women in society in different periods of history. He noted that the successful implementation of a large number of projects under the leadership of First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, which serve our national interests and preserve our traditions, is a vivid example of the charity and kindness of Azerbaijani women, their rich spiritual and high moral values.

The academician said that the state policy for promotion of women in all spheres of management, decision-making and social life established by the great leader Heydar Aliyev is successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev and Azerbaijani women are actively involved in all areas of social life. Talking of women scientists who played important role in development of Azerbaijani science A.Abbasov particularly emphasized the rich scientific work of Professor Tamilla Nasirova, Doctor of Engineering, the first woman-mathematician in Azerbaijan. Thanking the female employees of the institute for their activity and contribution to the development of the institute in science and social life, the academician wished them good health, happiness and success in their future work.

Then Zahra Azizova, Academic Secretary of the Institute, Chair of the trade union organization, spoke about the important role of women in society, thanked the leadership of the Institute for the special attention and care given to women working at the institute. She congratulated female employees of the institute and all women of Azerbaijan on the International Women's Day, wished them health, happiness and successes in their further work. Z.Azizova also handed certificates of merit on behalf of the trade union organization to women who have played an important role in the public activities of the institute.

Then Head of Department of ICS, Chair of the Women's Council Rena Asadova, PhD in Engineering, spoke in her speech about the value Azerbaijani women have in the modern era, their role in the development of science and education, the achievements of women in various scientific fields. She said modern Azerbaijani women are not only selfless mothers, but also professional figures of science, talented politicians and public servants that have gained the people's confidence. This activity, along with historical traditions of Azerbaijani woman is a result of the gender policy pursued in the country, creation of necessary conditions for equal use of all opportunities as full members of society. Congratulating the female employees of the Institute on this momentous day, R.Asadova presented certificates of merit on behalf of the Women`s Council to the women distinguished in scientific and public activity.

Then, Executive Director of ICS, Corresponding Member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov spoke, noting that Azerbaijani women have always exalted the name of the nation with their intelligence, wisdom, devotion, high motherhood qualities, talked about public and political activities of women who have made valuable contributions to the development of our country in various spheres. Saying women have played an important role in formation and development of the Azerbaijani people's spiritual values, A. Sadigov emphasized that Azerbaijani women have been successfully represented globally as a result of the far-sighted policy pursued by First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva. He said Azerbaijani women, who were granted the right to vote before women in a number of advanced countries of the world, took the first steps among women in the Muslim Orient and proved their progressive thought, innovation and progressive spirit.

Saying that the state women policy was successfully implemented in Azerbaijan, practical actions were taken towards solution of family and women affairs A.Sadigov noted that Azerbaijani women closely united around ideas of national independence and statehood, have been actively participating in the state building, public and political life of the country, making great contribution to improvement of socioeconomic, scientific-intellectual potential of the country and development of culture. Congratulating the women of Azerbaijan, who have invaluable services in protection of national and moral values and work hard to restore different fields of science on modern grounds, A.Sadigov wished them happiness, successes and new scientific achievements.

At the end of the event, Head of the Laboratory of Discrete Optimization Models and Methods of ICS, Professor Knyaz Mammadov, Head of the Public Relations Department Aygun Aliyeva, PhD in Economics, and Chair of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, junior researcher Lamiya Najafova spoke about the exceptional merits of the Azerbaijani women, who distinguished themselves throughout history with their talents, intelligence, will, devotion to family and homeland, in preservation and conservation of our national and spiritual values, their important role in the development of science and education, and congratulated female employees of the Institute on this momentous day.
