For the first time in Azerbaijan: a gathering of virtual robots

On May 8, 2023, a conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev was held at the presentation of virtual robots developed on the basis of artificial intelligence jointly by scientists and specialists of the Institute of Control Systems of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and ADA University.

Opening the event, General Director of the Institute, Academician Ali Abbasov spoke in detail about the remarkable life and various stages of political activity of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, architect and builder of the modern state of Azerbaijan, who had made an unprecedented contribution to the cause of its independence and development. He noted that despite various obstacles and pressure, Heydar Aliyev's main goal had always been to improve the well-being and independence of the Azerbaijani people.

A.Abbasov noted that during the period of Heydar Aliyev's leading the country, accompanied by the absolute development, the foundation of state-science-production chain had been established in Azerbaijan, rapid development had taken place in science, education, IT and other spheres, production associations, research institutions had been created. One of the great leader's great achievements in the development of education in the country was the expansion of Azerbaijani education. The state strategy realized on the initiative of Heydar Aliyev in the direction of establishing higher educational institutions in the regions and increasing scientific potential is being successfully continued today by the head of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

Speaking about the importance of the project dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Leader, A, Abbasov talked about the work being done at his institution to introduce artificial intelligence in various fields, and noted that collaboration with various government agencies, higher education institutions and private companies is developing in this area. Touching upon the significance of the conference held for the first time in the region as part of joint cooperation with ADA University on the presentation of virtual robots, the scientist expressed special gratitude to the Rector of the University Academician Hafiz Pashayev and his staff for supporting the implementation of the project. The academician told the participants of the event about the project in detail and spoke about the forthcoming goals in the direction of development of artificial intelligence.

Then Associate Professor of ADA University Samir Rustamov, PhD in Engineering, spoke about the joint project with the Institute of Control Systems. He noted that the Anlat chat-bot used in the development of the project as a model of artificial intelligence, unlike other bots, can recognize not only text but also speech in the Azerbaijani language and convert it into sound. Speech recognition in the Azerbaijani language in Anlat chatbot, which operates on the basis of artificial neural networks, is carried out by such steps as converting the voice into text and answering the given question.

Speaking about the fundamental research in the development of artificial intelligence technologies, carried out at the ICS over many years, S.Rustamov pointed out that there are productive relations between the scientists of the Institute and the ADA University in this area, and expressed interest in further scientific cooperation. He also spoke about the role of artificial intelligence in improving people's well-being and the development of various areas, and the existing problems in this area.

The conference then continued with the presentation of virtual robots. Various virtual robots answered in detail questions about the technological development of Azerbaijan in the 70-80s of the twentieth century under the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, reforms in science and education, and the ideology of Azerbaijaniism.

Executive director of ICS, Corresponding Member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov in his speech said that with his natural managerial talent, deep intellect, wisdom, courage and humanism Heydar Aliyev had been very sensitive to development of different scientific and cultural spheres and linked the progress of society to the development of science and education. The scientist mentioned that as a result of purposeful policy of Heydar Aliyev fundamental scientific researches had been conducted, important scientific achievements had been made and frontiers of education had been expanded in different periods of his leadership in Azerbaijan.

Stressing the importance of the project presented as a result of cooperation between ICS and ADA University, A. Sadigov said that this innovative project, implemented in the region for the first time, was commendable, and expressed confidence that bilateral relations between the two institutions would grow towards solving topical problems of science.

Corresponding Members of ANAS Kamil Aida-zade and Gorkhmaz Imanov, Professor Ramin Rzayev and Associate Professor Gulchin Abdullayeva further spoke about various aspects of life and political activity of National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev. They emphasized the importance of the presented project and talked about the positive and negative aspects in the world practice in the field of artificial intelligence.

In conclusion Academician Abbasov expressed confidence that the cherished memory of genius leader, immortal personality Heydar Aliyev who faithfully served his nation all his life will always live in the hearts of every Azerbaijani, and gave his recommendations on the work to be done during the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" towards protection of heritage of the great leader.
