Winners of the IV Football Championship among Young Scientists and Specialists of ANAS awarded

With the organizational support of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, management of this structure and with the support of the Union of Free Trade Unions, the final and the awards ceremony of the IV Football Championship among Young Scientists and Specialists of ANAS dedicated to the 94th birthday anniversary of the birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev was held on 17 May.

The match for the THIRD place was between the teams of the Institute of Control Systems and the Institute of Economics, which the former won with the score 6-4.

The teams of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics and the Institute of Physics of ANAS fought for the first place. The team of the Institute of Physics won the championship with the score 2-1.

At the awards ceremony held after the matches, the vice-president of ANAS Acad. Dilgam Tagiyev congratulated the members of the winning teams and appraised this traditional championship dedicated to the 94th birthday anniversary of the national leader Heydar Aliyev as a significant event. Acad. Tagiyev noted the importance of this championship and stressed the concern the government had shown in the development of sport in Azerbaijan. He also emphasized the importance of holding the grand sports competition "Games of Islamic Solidarity" in Baku, which takes place in our country with the participation of 4 000 athletes from 4 continents.

Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, Assoc. Prof. Famin Salmanov, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, pointed out in his speech that 16 teams from different institutions of ANAS had participated in the championship. He expressed gratitude to the administration of ANAS for the support rendered during the current championship.

Then the awarding of the teams took place. The team of the Institute of Physics took the first place, the second was the team of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, and the third place was taken by the team of the Institute of Control Systems. The members of the teams were awarded medals, diplomas and cash prizes.
