The Institute of Control Systems held a meeting with representatives of the Czech Republic
05.02.2024 /On February 2, 2024, Director of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics Ondřej Velek and Secretary for Economic and Trade Affairs of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Baku Klara Zeldova visited the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The meeting was attended by General Director of ICS Academician Ali Abbasov, Acting Executive Director of ICS Assoc. Prof. Elkhan Sabziyev, DSc in Engineering, Head of International Relations and Innovations Department Tofig Babayev, PhD in Engineering, and Chief Specialist Narmin Abbaszade. The main purpose of the meeting was to establish and develop cooperation in the field of science and education between the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics and ICS.
At the beginning, Academician Ali Abbasov thanked the guests for their attention and spoke in detail about the history and structure of ICS, the main areas of activity of the Institute, such as theoretical and applied control problems, artificial intelligence technologies and study of socio-economic systems, and conducted fundamental scientific research. A. Abbasov spoke about the development of intelligent control systems based on international standards such as SCADA based on the "Internet of Things" implemented in accordance with the requirements of global technological challenges, natural language technologies based on artificial intelligence for languages with limited digital resources and their applications, and other potential projects and problems in this field. Speaking about the important scientific results obtained in the field of control systems, robotics, optimization and modeling, the academician also spoke about the research works of the Special Design Bureau (SDB) operating at the Institute, which have been introduced into production.
Informing the guests that in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On some measures to improve management in the field of science and education in the Republic of Azerbaijan" dated July 28, 2022, the Institute of Control Systems was subordinated to the Ministry of Science and Education, A.Abbasov talked about the joint activities of the Ministry of Science and Education and ANAS in the field of integration of science and education, as well as the challenges facing them. Speaking about the training of highly qualified personnel, the scientist made recommendations on the development of exchange programs between the Institute of Control Systems and the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics.
Then, Prof. Ondřej Velek, Director of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics, spoke about the history of the Czech Technical University, which he represents, its establishment, areas of activity, ongoing research and implemented projects. He noted that the university with its multidisciplinary scientific activities provides education at 8 faculties covering such fields as artificial intelligence technology, economics, engineering, physics, and has 5 research institutes. The scientist spoke about the human resource potential of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics, publishing activities, international cooperation, application of scientific results in practice and research conducted with the help of artificial intelligence technologies.
- Velek expressed interest in cooperation with a leading research institution with a long history, such as the Institute of Control Systems, and voiced confidence that the implementation of important results that will be obtained during joint research will contribute to the development of science and education in both countries.
Then Assoc. Prof. Elkhan Sabziyev, DSc in Engineering, voiced his suggestions on the development of bilateral science and education cooperation between the Institute of Control Systems and the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics, emphasizing the importance of conducting joint scientific research that meets modern standards.
Head of the International Relations and Innovations Department of ICS Tofig Babayev, PhD in Engineering, expressed confidence that the established relations of cooperation between the mentioned scientific institutions will yield effective scientific results and informed the guests about the international conferences held by ICS in the current year.
Secretary of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Azerbaijan Klara Zeldova informed the participants of the meeting about successfully developing diplomatic and economic ties between the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan and brought to their attention the latest results in this regard. She once again emphasized the importance of close cooperation between Czech and Azerbaijani scientific and educational institutions and joint activities of scientists of both countries in the field of modern technologies and thanked the representatives of the Institute for their hospitality.
During the meeting, the possibilities of joint activities and prospects for further cooperation between the two research institutions were discussed in detail.
