
Employees of the Institute of Control Systems took part in the international conference

The international scientific conference “Smart Environment and Green Technologies”, indexed in Scopus, organized by Odlar Yurdu University, was held at Hilton Baku Hotel in Baku.
Chairman of the Supervisory Board of OYU, Prof. Samir Veliyev, delivered a welcoming speech, provided general information about the conference, reminded that by the relevant decree of the Head of State 2024 was declared the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World” in our country. He talked about the protection of ecological balance and environment in Azerbaijan, effective use of alternative energy sources, as well as work carried out on prevention of climate change.
The professor informed that Karabakh, Eastern Zangezur and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic were declared green energy zones by the decrees of the head of state. Samir Veliyev noted that there are huge opportunities for renewable energy production in these regions. He emphasized that during the years of his rule President Ilham Aliyev not only achieved the development of Azerbaijan as a powerful energy state, but due to his determination and iron will he created new historical realities under his leadership, fully ensuring territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country.
Then Vice-Rector for Quality Assurance, Innovation and International Relations of the OYU, Professor Fakhraddin Mammadov noted that many historically important international events have been held in Azerbaijan during the years of independence, and stated that holding of the international scientific conference “Smart Environment and Green Technologies” in our country in 2024 is an indicator of Azerbaijan's growing authority in the international community.
Deputy Director of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Aminaga Sadigov, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Vugar Kerimov, Deputy Minister of Energy Orkhan Zeynalov, President of ANAS Academician Isa Habibbeyli, General Director of the Institute of Control Systems of the Ministry of Science and Education Academician Ali Abbasov, General Director of the National Aerospace Agency Professor Natig Javadov, Chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology of the Milli Majlis Sadig Gurbanov, Director of the MBA, BBA program (a joint program of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (Azerbaijan) and Georgia State University (USA)), Academician Rafig Aliyev, world-famous scientists, Canadian Professor Witold Pedrycz and Polish Professor Janusz Kaczprzyk also spoke at the opening ceremony of the conference, stressing the importance of the event.
They commended the decision to hold the international scientific conference “Smart Environment and Green Technologies” in Baku, as well as the global support of Azerbaijan's policy in the field of “green energy”.
General Director of the Institute of Control Systems, Academician Ali Abbasov, Professor Elchin Aliyev and Ramin Mammadov made a presentation on “An Intelligent Management System for Business Facilities Based on the Joint Use of IoT and Unmanned Technologies” at the plenary session held within the framework of the conference. Then the conference continued its work in sections.
Professor Gorkhmaz Imanov, Head of the Laboratory of Fuzzy Economic Models of the Institute of Control Systems, and Asif Aliyev, an employee of the laboratory, participated in the conference with the paper “Fuzzy pattern recognition model for simulating the Green Growth Index for Azerbaijan”, and Malahat Murtuzayeva and Samir Pur Riza presented their paper “The quality of the Green Economy as a private indicator of the level of ecological civilization of the country”. Head of the Laboratory of Modeling of Socio-Economic Processes Professor Yadulla Hasanli and laboratory employees Arzu Safarova and Rafail Rzayev presented their paper entitled “Green Horizons: Assessing Environmental Sustainability and Renewable Energy's Role in Achieving the Goals - A Case Study of Azerbaijan”.
A number of presentations were given in the sections on smart environment and green technologies. The presentations focused on new modules, new programs and work on artificial intelligence. The conference featured valuable presentations on ecosystems that are considered suitable for creating smart cities and smart villages.
Foreign speakers at the conference attracted the attention of local researchers with their useful ideas.
The second day of the conference, which continued with breakout sessions, featured presentations by Odlar Jurdu University faculty and conference guests.
In conclusion, the rector of the university, Professor Ahmad Veliyev, proposed to organizing international scientific conferences on a larger scale in the coming years, in which foreign and local scientists would take part with great interest.
