Scientific seminar of the Institute of Control Systems was held

A scientific seminar of the Institute of Control Systems of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held on September 2024. At the meeting, Togrul Kerimov, PhD, from Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, made a presentation “On reachability in discrete linear dynamical systems”.
The presentation was devoted to reachability for both discrete and continuous linear dynamical systems. It is known that in the absence of control, the problem of reachability comes down to the well-known open Skolem problem for linear recurrence sequences. Recent developments concerning the connection between reachability and number theory, including Diophantine approximations, were discussed.
T. Kerimov spoke about the nature of the problem of reachability, which studies whether a point will reach a given target set moving along a trajectory described by a dynamical system considered from a given initial state. He pointed out that problems of this type arise in testing systems controlled by differential equations.
The presentation aroused the interest of the seminar participants, and a discussion of the topic was held.
