07.11.2024 / Conferences, assemblies

An event dedicated to the Victory Day was held at the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan on November 7, 2024. The event was attended by the Institute's administration, heads of departments and laboratories, scientists and specialists.

At first, a minute of silence was observed to honor the memory of the martyrs who perished in the valiant struggle for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Then a video about the historical moments of the 44-day Patriotic War was shown.

General Director of ICS Academician Ali Abbasov opened the meeting and congratulated the staff of the Institute on Victory Day. The academician spoke about the glorious history of the Second Karabakh War for the liberation of the occupied lands under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan in response to another provocative military aggression of Armenia, which started on September 27, 2012.

Speaking about the difficulties of the war period, the academician noted that the enemy, powerless before the superiority of Azerbaijan, resorted to various provocations, strikes on innocent civilians, committed war crimes, grossly violated the norms of international law. As a result of the war, 2,908 military personnel and 100 civilians were killed, 416 civilians were wounded, 7 went missing and 12 became prisoners of war.

Noting that the victory in the 44-day Patriotic War was the most important victory in the history of Azerbaijan, A. Abbasov emphasized that the liberation of the occupied lands became possible due to the forward-looking policy of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and determination of the Azerbaijani army. The academician talked about the consequences of the war, recalling the agreement signed on November 10, 2020 by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the President of the Russian Federation, which is actually considered as an act of capitulation of Armenia. He noted that as a result of the anti-terrorist measures carried out by the Azerbaijani Army against the remnants of the Armenian armed forces and the illegal Armenian armed formations in the Karabakh economic region on September 19, 2023, in response to the provocations of the enemy, which did not fulfill the provisions of the trilateral declaration, both the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country were fully restored.

  1. Abbasov also spoke about the state policy and construction works carried in the military, political, economic and cultural spheres under the leadership of the head of state. He noted that the successes achieved in the military field are based on modern technologies that meet the requirements of the time and pointed out our goals in this area.

Then, the Chair of the Council of Young Scientists and Professionals (CYSS) of the ICS, junior researcher Lamiya Najafova spoke about the role of youth in the Second Karabakh War and the processes that took place in the subsequent periods. She noted that during the war thousands of young people joined the army following the call of the Commander-in-Chief, which is vivid evidence of the young generation's respect for national and moral values and love for the Motherland.

Noting the successes achieved by the youth in the post-war construction, L. Najafova talked about the use of smart technologies and alternative energy sources, modern approaches aimed at “green” and sustainable development of territories.

Other speakers were employees of the ICS Prof. Knyaz Mammadov, Doctor of Mathematics, Assoc. Prof. Mazahir Isayev, Doctor of Engineering, and Assoc. Prof. Alekper Akhundov, Doctor of Mathematics, participants of the Second Karabakh War Nadir Babakhanov and Rashad Sharifov, who congratulated the participants of the event on Victory Day, spoke about the glorious history of the war and shared their memories of Karabakh.

In conclusion, A. Abbasov once again touched upon the importance of the victory gained by the triumphant Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, and thanked, on behalf of the ICS staff, the employees of the Institute who had fought in the war. He said that the cherished memory of the martyrs, who had given their lives for the Motherland, will always live in the heart of every Azerbaijanis and paid his respect to them.
