A scientific seminar of the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held on December 17, 2024. At the seminar, the Head of the Laboratory of Models and Methods of Discrete Optimization Prof. Knyaz Mammadov, DSc in Mathematics, and researcher of the laboratory, doctoral student of the PhD program Rayiha Niyazova made a presentation on an innovative method of approximate solution of an integer programming problem.

They presented information about a new method used for constructing an approximate (suboptimal) solution of an integer programming problem. The essence of the method consists in finding first an approximate solution using a certain known method. According to the principle of the process of finding this solution, its coordinates are identified, which may differ from the optimal solution. After that, a procedure is given to find a better solution by successively changing the values of these coordinates.

Using the proposed method, a numerical example was solved and certain computational experiments were conducted.
