Regular meeting of the Science Council of the Institute of Control Systems was held

The regular meeting of the Science Council of the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held on February 6, 2025. The meeting was attended by members of the Science Council, heads of departments and laboratories, scientists and specialists.
The meeting was opened by General Director of the Institute of Control Systems, Chairman of the Science Council, Academician Ali Abbasov, who brought the agenda issues to the attention of the participants.
А. Abbasov spoke on the celebration of the 90th birthday of Academician Telman Aliev, Advisor of ANAS, this year. He noted that outstanding scientist, Academician Telman Aliev, who headed the Institute of Control Systems from 1988 to 2020, made a significant contribution to the development of informatics all over the world, including in our country. Talking of fundamental studies carried out by T. Aliev for many years of his leadership at the Institute of Control Systems, the academician proposed to establish a commission for the implementation of this issue. The academician noted that in 2025 the Institute of Control Systems will also celebrate its 70th anniversary, and outlined the tasks to be accomplished. The decision was adopted unanimously after open voting.
А. Abbasov spoke on awarding Rustam Azimov, researcher of the Laboratory of Recognition, Identification and Optimal Methods of Decision Making of IC, with the Presidential Prize in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On awarding Presidential Prizes to youth in 2025” dated January 31, 2025. He said that this award, established by the decree of the Head of State dated July 2, 2013, is given to young people who distinguished themselves in the field of science, education, culture, youth policy and youth work, public and socially oriented activity, innovation and entrepreneurship. A. Abbasov talked about the youth policy implemented in our country to support scientific activity of young scientists and researchers, and on behalf of the ICS staff thanked the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev for the special care shown by the state to the development of science.
Speaking next R. Azimov said it was a great honor to be awarded the Presidential Youth Prize by the country's leadership for his fruitful scientific activity. R. Azimov expressed his gratitude to the leadership of ICS, the entire staff and especially to his scientific supervisor, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Kamil Ayda-zade for their attention and care.
Then Acting Executive Director of ICS, Associate Professor Elkhan Sabziev, DSc in Engineering, spoke on the approval of the complex plan of research works in ICS for 2025. The issue was widely discussed by the council members, and the research plan was unanimously approved in an open vote.
Then Academic Secretary of the Institute Zahra Azizova spoke on transfer of Asif Aliyev, enrolled in the Institute's doctoral program in 2024, to the correspondence doctoral program, approval of his scientific supervisor and thesis topic. Z. Azizova also brought to the attention of the participants the issue of approval of individual work plans of doctoral students and dissertationists admitted to the doctoral and dissertation programs of the Institute.
Then E. Sabziev spoke about the work to be done by scientists of the Institute of Control Systems to increase the number of articles published in journals, indexed in scientific databases, and outlined the upcoming tasks.
In conclusion, a number of current agenda issues were discussed and decisions were made.
