
Employee of the Institute of Control Systems selected as international expert

Head of the International Relations and Innovation Department of the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Tofig Babayev, PhD in Engineering, was selected as an international expert for the implementation of the CAREC Institute support project entitled “Digital CAREC: National E-Logistics Platforms and Digitalization of Transport Corridors in CAREC Countries” within the framework of a tender announced by the Asian Development Bank.
The main objective of the project is to assess and analyze the level of digitalization of the transport and logistics sector in five selected CAREC (Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation) countries, including Azerbaijan: Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, the creation of national eLogistics platforms, the development of individual approaches to the creation of national eLogistics platforms for the effective digitalization of national segments of CAREC transport corridors, as well as their cross-border connectivity. One international expert and one national expert from each participating country took part in the implementation of the project.
The main responsibilities of the international expert include:
Conducting a detailed and comprehensive review of the literature on the digitalization of trade and transport corridors in individual countries of the CAREC region, examine international best practices and modern approaches to the digitalization of supply chains and transport corridors;
Developing research methodology;
Analyzing the digitalization programs of existing transport and logistics systems (TLS), assess the level of TLS digitalization, and evaluate their readiness for the digitalization of national sections of the main CAREC transport corridors;
Providing recommendations on the implementation of national e-logistics platform projects in individual countries, as well as develop basic principles and technological approaches for the digitalization of national segments;
Providing recommendations on digital infrastructure components and proposed technical assistance and capacity building.
Note that the project is expected to be implemented over a period of four months.
