Monograph by academician Isa Gabibbeyli submitted for State Prize

On March 17, a regular meeting of the Secretariat of the Writers’ Union of Azerbaijan was held. At the meeting, the issue of presenting the monograph “The concept of periodization and stages of development of Azerbaijani literature”  by the first vice-president of ANAS, director of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi, academician Isa Habibbayli for the State Prize of the Republic of Azerbaijan (in the field of literature).

It was noted that this book is the first monographic study devoted to the scientific and theoretical periodization of the history of Azerbaijani literature. For the first time in literary science, the stages of development of centuries-old Azerbaijani literature were determined on the basis of the concept of systematic periodization, developed by academician Isa Habibbayli. To date, no scientific and theoretical classification of the history of literature has been carried out in the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as in neighboring countries.

During the meeting, it was noted that during the periodization of our literary history, based on national interests and the criteria of statehood, the principles of Azerbaijanism, factors of civilization, literary trends and the realities of the literary and historical process are taken as a basis. The publication presents ten stages in the development of the history of Azerbaijani literature, and each literary stage is widely justified from a scientific and theoretical point of view.

Given all this, it was unanimously decided to submit the monograph “The concept of periodization and stages of development of Azerbaijani literature” for the State Prize of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
