Work goes on the project "Technology transfer and promotion of commercialization of science in Azerbaijan"

02.10.2020 / Conferences, assemblies

The project "Technology transfer and promotion of commercialization of science in Azerbaijan", covering years of 2019-2020 continues within the cooperation of the High Technologies Park (HT Park) of ANAS with the Korean Institute of Science and Technology Policy (STEPI).

In the first year of the project, knowledge was gained on the analysis of the current state of the technology transfer ecosystem in Azerbaijan, assessment of technology transfer and commercialization of science, its management at the institutional level.
Within the framework of three trainings held in 2019, the participants representing the scientific and educational institutions of the country, as well as the scientific institutions of ANAS gained theoretical knowledge in the mentioned fields.

For the second year of the project, STEPI has proposed to develop a strategic plan for the HT Park at the institutional level as a priority. For this purpose, in May of this year, online discussions were carried out with the participation of the Park's management and Korean experts.
Also in September, the project parties held an online meeting in video conference format. The meeting featured lectures by Korean experts on fundraising and business models for technoparks, attracting residents and digitization of technoparks. Discussions were held with the participation of domestic and Korean experts on the internal system of HT Park, public procurement, technology transfer and commercialization, startup, incubation, testing and accreditation.

A 50-page report prepared by domestic experts was submitted to the Korean side. The document is expected to be approved by the end of this year, taking into account the final opinions of both parties.

As a result of the project, it is planned to organize a workshop in Seoul or Baku to approve a package of proposals for the application of the Korean model in improving the activities of HT Park.

Note that STEPI, which plays an important role in the development of science and technology policy, aims to develop national competitiveness by expanding the global thinking platform for research in this area.
