Prominent scientist Kamil Aydazade, Head of Laboratory of the Institute of Control Systems, Corresponding Member of ANAS, turns 70 today
23.12.2020 / Conferences, assembliesToday marks the 70th birthday of Kamil Aydazade, a prominent scientist, Honored Teacher, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Head of Laboratory of the Institute of Control Systems, who made important contributions to the development of information technology.
Kamil Rajab Aydazade was born on December 23, 1950 in Gusar District. In 1967, after graduating from the Mathematical School No. 189 in Baku, he was admitted to the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University), which he graduated in 1972.
He has been working as a laboratory assistant, sector head, department head at the Institute of Cybernetics (now the Institute of Control Systems) of ANAS since 1972, and now he is Head of the "Numerical decision-making methods in deterministic systems" laboratory of the Institute of Control Systems of ANAS. In 1974-1977 he worked at the Computing Center of BSU, in 1979-1994 at Neftgazavtomat RDI as a sector manager, deputy director general for scientific affairs, in 2004-2014 as the head of the department of applied mathematics at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy (now the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University), in 2016-2018 as the head of the "Informatics" department of BSU.
K.R. Aydazade defended his doctoral dissertation on "Development and application of some mathematical programming methods" at the Muskhelishvili Computing Center in Tbilisi in 1978, and his doctoral dissertation on "Development and application of constructive solutions of network structural problems" at the Institute of Cybernetics in Kiev in 1989. He was awarded the title of Professor in 1992 and in 2014 was elected a Corresponding Member of ANAS.
The decomposition approach to the optimization, modeling and research of complex technical and technological objects developed by K.R. Aydazade in 1976-1980 was used to solve real problems in various fields of science and technology and brought to the level of intellectual software packages and systems.
K.R. Aydazade developed fundamental theories and methods to study the problems of nonlinear optimization of the network structure by developing the method of decomposition, proposed a new approach and synthesis of zonal control effects for the management of technical facilities (in particular, in oil and gas extraction, pipeline transportation of crude oil and gas, etc.).
Work has been done for the Azerbaijani language under the guidance of the scientist in the field of: recognition of printed manuscripts, manuscript texts and speech; speech synthesis; intelligent computer systems for text and speech comprehension using the mathematical apparatus developed by him on the basis of decomposition, modeling, optimization, and fuzzy theories.
One of the important objects of application of the scientific results of Kamil Aydazade in 1978-1988 was "Energy" NPO (Design Bureau named after SP Korolev), for which, with his participation, methods, algorithms and software were developed for calculating, optimizing for various technical problems. In particular, kinematic and dynamic analyzes of the Soyuz-Apollo docking station, optimization of the aircraft trajectory, and calculation of life-support systems in the vehicle were carried out.
From 1981, K. Aydazade was the scientific supervisor of important developments in the national economy, such as systems of dispatch operational control of the world’s largest Urengoy and Yamburg gas condensate fields, "Aztransgaz” PA. The control problems for pipeline transportation networks investigated by him are an integral part of the mathematical and software of relevant information management systems.
The control system of the Yamburg gas field developed under guidance of K. Aydazade won the competition announced by the Ministry of Gas Industry of the USSR in 1988 with the participation of leading scientific centers of Russia and Ukraine, and was put into operation. The work related to modernization, transfer to the new information technologies and up-to-date computers, introduction of LAN and WAN and corporate computer networks for "Yamburggazdobycha” PA continued up to 1998.
Under his leadership, work on informatization was carried out at the Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, Azal Association and other enterprises. He took an active part in the development and implementation of the pilot version of the Sechkilar computer system at the elections to the Milli Majlis and in the creation of a concept for the development of the system within the framework of the UNDP international program.
K.R. Aydazade participated in the organization of the Transcaucasia Association within the framework of the All-Union Association of UCS Users, was deputy President of the Transcaucasia Association in 1976-1983, and played an important part in the development of informatics in Azerbaijan in the 1980s.
Author of 585 scientific papers, 420 of them published abroad and 125 in peer-reviewed journals indexed in international databases.
He was awarded Honorary Diplomas of the USSR Ministry of Instrument-Making in 1988; for achievements in scientific activity he was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan in 2001, and he was awarded the title of Honored Teacher of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2011. In 2020, Corresponding Member of ANAS Kamil Ayda-zadeh was awarded an Honorary Diploma of ANAS for services in the field of informatics and optimization in Azerbaijan and on the occasion of the 70th anniversary.
On behalf of the employees of the Institute of Control Systems, we congratulate the esteemed Kamil muallim on his 70th birthday and wish him good health and new creative successes in the development of science!
