A scientific seminar on "Problems of control of unmanned aerial vehicles" was held at the Institute of Control Systems
29.04.2021 / Conferences, assembliesA regular scientific seminar of the Institute of Control Systems (ICS) of ANAS was held. The seminar was attended by the administration of the institute, scientists and specialists, invited guests, as well as young researchers of the institute.
Opening the seminar, the General Director of the Institute Academician Ali Abbasov, noted the importance of unmanned aerial vehicles, which the seminar was devoted to and said that theoretical and practical work in this direction had been carried out at ICS for a long time. A. Abbasov stressed that unmanned aerial vehicles played an important role in the success of Azerbaijan in last year's victorious 44-day war for the liberation of our ancestral lands. Thus, this factor has become an urgent area in many leading countries of the world, arousing interest in the use of UAVs in local hostilities. Then the scientist gave the floor to the keynote speaker of the seminar, Associate Professor Elkhan Sabziev, PhD (Math).
Associate Professor Elkhan Sabziev, PhD (Math), Leading Researcher of the Laboratory for Modeling and Control of Continuous Processes, began his presentation with the paper "Problems of control of unmanned aerial vehicles" and spoke about the control and decision-making system of UAVs. E. Sabziev noted two main functions of quadcopter UAVs: area monitoring for various purposes and delivery of various cargoes, and also spoke in detail about their control algorithms. He said that in the course of the study, an algorithm had been proposed for the automatic calculation of physical and technical parameters included in the control model of quadcopters. The essence of the algorithm is that the difference between the real trajectory obtained from the sensor data when performing several standard quadcopter aerobatic figures at the beginning of the flight, and the intended trajectory allows calculating these values. When developing the control system, technical requirenebts for quadcopters in Azerbaijan had been taken into account. It was noted that numerical analogs of the control models under study had also been developed, taking into account the discreteness of the control signals of real quadcopters and the values coming from the sensors.
Then the speaker answered the questions of the participants, and discussions on the topic were held. Academician Fikret Aliyev, Director of the Institute of Applied Mathematical Research of Baku State University, Executive Director of ICS, Corresponding Member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov, Prof. Eldar Shahbazov, DSc (Eng), Fakhrad Pashayev, DSc (Eng), Ilgar Mamedov, DSc (Math), Associate Professor Alekper Akhundov, PhD (Math), Head of the Department of the National Aviation Academy Gazanfar Orudzhev, PhD (Eng), Associate Professor Anar Ragimov, PhD (Math), researcher Vugar Gashimov. participated in the discussions
Speaking at the seminar, Associate Professor Adalat Pashayev, PhD (Math), Head of Laboratory for Modeling and Control of Continuous Processes of ICS, said that new software for controllers was being successfully created to prevent the loss of direct communication with the drone and its landing. He noted that it was proposed to create a drone laboratory to analyze the research. A. Pashayev informed the participants of the seminar about certain areas of research carried out in his laboratory, including the work on controlling a group of drones, the results obtained and plans for the future.
Then the Executive Director of ICS, Corresponding Member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov spoke, stressing the relevance of the topic. The scientist noted that numerous studies are being carried out in this area in our country and in the world, as a result of which a competitive environment is being formed. Therefore, our scientists face the tasks of a serious approach to research in this area, improving UAVs, taking into account external influences, etc. At the end of his speech, A. Sadigov highly assessed the paper and made suggestions regarding the problems that may arise in this area in the future.
Academician Fikret Aliyev noted in his speech that he considers the study to be commendable, and made his suggestions on the topic. He highly appreciated the fact that ANAS conducts research in this topical area, in particular, the work being carried out at ICS.
Ilgar Mamedov, DSc (Math), and Associate Professor Asif Rzayev, PhD (Eng), also appreciated the study.
In conclusion, the General Director of the Institute, Academician Ali Abbasov reviewed the points made in the paper, noted the future objectives of the study and issues that need to be studied, and expressed his final opinion.
