
Academician Ali Abbasov awarded the Lev Landau Badge of ANAS

Academician Ali Abbasov, General Director of the Institute of Control Systems of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was awarded the Lev Landau Badge of ANAS for his contributions to the field of theoretical and applied artificial intelligence by the decision of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences dated October 31, 2025.
The research work of A. Abbasov, who has rendered great services to the development of Azerbaijani science and the integration of science and education, are focused on solving information technology and control problems. Under the leadership of the academician, who has made significant contributions to these fields, methods and algorithms for fuzzy search in big data information networks were developed, as well as methods for natural language processing with limited linguistic digital resources using Big Data and Deep Learning, including machine translation, speech analysis, and understanding, that were applied to the Azerbaijani language. The prominent scientist has achieved remarkable results, cited by relevant UN agencies, in accelerating the transition to an information society and the formation of a digital economy in Azerbaijan, implementing new technologies and e-government solutions, as well as developing broadband network and human resources services in ICT.
It should be noted that the badge named after the distinguished Russian scientist and Nobel Prize laureate Lev Landau is awarded to scholars who have made exceptional contributions to the development of physics and mathematics.
